The Head to Head challenge- what a day!

The new annual Head II Head challenge started with a bang yesterday. When our runners assembled at East Soar Farm Experience to take on the coastal challenge, the weather was fantastic and a successful event went ahead without a hitch. The route was beautiful throughout and the feedback has been super positive which we are thrilled about, as our mission is to provide runners with stunning, tough routes, with their safety being paramount.

A massive well done to all the athletes who took part, particularly to James Lee Brydon from Mud Crew Trail Runners who stormed around the course in an amazing 01:29:43 to claim first place and to Imogen Yeoman who took first place for ladies with a smashing time of 01:48:14. In second place for men was Murray Ross from Trail Running Association with an impressive time of 01:30:29, and second place for women was Emma Sherman-James with an impressive 01:49:05. In third place for men was Rob Clutterbuck with a cracking time of 01:33:56 and in third place for women was Hannah Baker with a fantastic time of 01:54:27. The results are now live and can be found on our site www.trailevents.co/times/

With SAXX underwear and Summerskills Brewery supporting us with prizes, more than half the runners left with a bottle of beer or a pair of ‘Life Changing Underwear’, and the National Trust South West provided a stall along with some handy deckchairs for our runners to take a break in after their run! Huge thanks to National Trust South West and East Soar Outdoor Experience for allowing us to hold the event on their land, and to Mark Treais who traveled from Torbay to be available to our runners needing physio after the event. A massive thanks to our marshals too- we couldn’t have done it without you! The atmosphere was buzzing.

Most of all we want to thank you the participants who made our first event of the year so fantastic! Thank you, you were awesome!

Next years event is already in the planning so make sure to keep the weekend clear, we will be adding a second distance too, so you can enjoy more time taking in that stunning view.

Don’t forget, if you liked the Head II Head Challenge then we are holding other events in the South West, the Run/Swim at South Milton Sands in June and the South West Coast Path Challenge in October this year with 20k & 40k options available. A little further away is our Glencoe event in August for some challenging mountain trails, and the Exmoor challenge in October which takes in the stunning North coast.

Hope to see you all soon! Have a great week- Happy Running!
