Set at the wonderful Allerford Recreation Ground just outside Porlock on the Exmoor coast, which is all part of the amazing Holnicote Estate part of the National Trust.
A truly exceptional area for trail running, with the marathon and ultra runners covering areas around Dunkery Hill and Horner Wood, two nature reserves before joining the South West Coast Path back towards Porlock and the finish, but not before taking on a small beach section, to really test those legs, followed by one last soul searching climb!
Exmoor is a brutal trail running challenge!
The 12k and half marathon runners, stay on the coastal side of the A39, where you will enjoy running through some stunning wood sections and the fantastic coastal path around Porlock and Bossington Hill.
An outstanding Trail run awaits you within the beautiful and exhilarating Exmoor National Park. Leaving the tranquil village of Allerford deep within the National Parks you arrive on forest trials that lead you to a 19th Century Memorial Hut.
Following the trail across the Moor you arrive at Selworthy Beacon, leaving the Beacon behind you take the coastal path with spectacular views towards Hurlstone Point and the coast. Once you reach Hurlstone point, there is a steep, sharp cliff path around the headland and almost down to the beach, before taking you back up to the coast path and on to Bossington Hill before heading back through the Allerford Plantation and the Agnes Fountain Monument and the finish.
Canicross friendly – 12K and half marathon only. (please ensure your dog has trained properly for the event).
