The marathon boasts over 2900m of elevation and begins with the infamous vertical kilometre on the mighty Puig Campana. After climbing over 1000m within 3.6km to the summit of el Puig you will descend steeply to Coll de Pouet; from there the running becomes a little easier.

Cost Per Person

The cost of this incredible adventure is only £625pp – Split into two payments, first payment – £330. Second payment due on 31st October 2022 – £295.

Itinerary:

Flying into Alicante airport (booking your own flights) on Wednesday 16th of November, where, once you have let us know your arrival times, you’ll be collected by one of the team and driven to the beachfront 4star hotel Allon that is to be your home for the next few days.

After checking in you’ll have an opportunity to relax, take in the stunning surroundings, maybe even have a little stroll along the promenade, or wander around the old town of la Vila Joiosa which sits directly on the Costa Blanca coastline and boast an incredible multicoloured facade.

There will be a welcome meeting to attend once all parties have arrived and have settled in. It will be a very informal meeting, where we will be getting to know each other and talk over the next few days and answer any questions you may have at the time. You will also be handed your race number and welcome pack ready for the big day.

On your first full day, Thursday, we’ll head out early for a slow coastal trail run towards Torre del Aguillo. It will be a relatively easy run and you’ll be able to take in some of the beautiful coastline views along the Costa Blanca. Following the gentle run, we will head back to the hotel to grab breakfast at the hotel.

After breakfast there will be an informative presentation, which will cover all aspects of the event and the route you will be running. We will talk you through the terrain and what to expect, we will also tell you about any sections to be careful on, as this is a very technical trail run.

After the presentation you will have some free time to relax and begin to prepare your kit ready for the race. (We can help you to source trail snacks from the local Decathlon store, we understand weight restrictions on the flights might mean you can’t bring all your normal event snacks, we will be able to source these locally for you)

On Friday morning we’ll start the day with a really easy shake out run, just to keep the legs ticking over, this will be followed by a gentle stretching/ yoga session. The yoga will be taken on the beach if the weather is good.

In the afternoon we’ll head up to Finestrat, where the Costa Blanca Trails event starts; here you’ll have an opportunity to soak up the atmosphere of the race village. There is no need to stress about collecting your race numbers because we will collect these for you and have them ready for when you arrive in Spain. Once we’ve all seen the race village and had a great time soaking up the race atmosphere, we’ll head back to la Vila to rest and relax in anticipation for the big race.

Race day: You will be picked up from the hotel after breakfast and taken to the start line ready for your 0800 hrs start.

We will keep you company at the start and let you know what is happening and where you need to be, we’ll get you safely to the start line, all you need to do is get ready to take on the Costa Blanca mountains and the mighty Puig Campana VK1.

Once the race starts, the team will head out to the hills and to a few checkpoints, where we can offer you some moral support, we are unable to crew for you and give you anything, but we will be there all the way around giving you full moral support.

After the race, there will be a winners presentation and celebrations, tickets for this are included, here you will be entitled to three free drinks and some authentic post race Spanish food. Once you are all back at race village, fed and watered and needing to recover, you’ll be taken back to the hotel to relax and get some much needed rest.

Sunday: On Sunday morning following your efforts in the mountains, there will be a very gentle recovery walk or slow run along the beachfront to get the legs turning over. If this isn’t for you, then you by no means have to come on this walk.

We then have a special farewell lunch at restaurant Ca Marta to get ready for. Ca Marta is one of the very best restaurants in La Vila. The food is amazing, and it will be a great way to finish our adventure on the Costa Blanca.

Monday: Depending on flight times, we’ll get together for a quick reflection meeting prior to saying our goodbyes. You will be driven back to the airport in plenty of time to catch your flight home.
